It Ain't Sunkist, Baby!

Had my glucose test this morning. Boy is that ever fun! (For those who don't know, you have to fast, drink a gross drink and then get blood taken an hour after the drink...) I ran into Walgreen's and grabbed a magazine for my hour visit at the doctor's office. Then, I sat in my vehicle and drank the orange stuff before heading to the doctor. I REALLY hope there weren't security cameras outside of Walgreen's because I looked like an idiot gaging, coughing and choking down the drink. How embarrassing!

Not sure when I will get the results, but I'm praying that everything is fine!! :-)

Thankful

Yes, I am over the snow.

I love it while it is coming down and the first few moments of the “blanket of white” but then I pretty much don’t see the need for snow any more.

So, I’m posting some things I am thankful for because I need the boost to my attitude!!! :-)

I’m thankful for (in no particular order)…

…homemade potato soup

…hot chocolate with cool whip

…homemade rice krispie treats

…my children – Levi, who is so sweet and loves to kiss & hug my belly before bedtime – and this little child growing in my belly who makes me giggle when she moves at odd times or wakes me up at 2:30 am

…my husband – he makes me laugh when I am trying to be mad at him; he brings home chocolate ice cream & gets excited when we make milkshakes; he knows when I am at my breaking point and tells me to go take a hot bath. I love you.

...friends – I have THE best friends in the world. Period.

…warm blankets

…Kansai (aka: salt)

…Bejeweled

…the anticipation of Spring!!! Flowers, warmth, green grass, playing at the park…

…Facebook. Yes, people, I am thankful for Facebook. I love spying on others, laughing at people’s comments, looking through pictures, getting the latest news, and keeping in touch with friends who live far away.

…online banking. Let’s face it, it just makes my life easier.

…and, I guess any “thankful” list wouldn’t be complete without being thankful for Jesus! When I get gloomy, selfish, tired, bored, antsy, worrisome, lonely, and even when I’m blissfully happy, loving, and content, I have to remember that it is NOT about me, but all about HIM!

Yummy chicken

Made a yummy little dinner last night. This is compliments of Melanie - hope she doesn't mind if I share!! She made it when we went camping once. It's a simple mix for yummy chicken quesadillas or tacos:

In the crock pot, combine:
chicken breast (I used about 10 chicken tenderloin pieces)
equal amounts of salsa & fat free Italian dressing
(approx 1 1/2 cups of each)

Cook on high for 4-5 hours or low all day. "Shred" the chicken as it cooks.

You can use the chicken mixture in flour tortilla shells as tacos or throw the shells in the skillet and make quesadillas. Top with sour cream and shredded cheese. It's very good and oh-so-simple!!

Weekend recap

We had a really nice & relaxing weekend! Don't you just love those??? :-) Saturday morning, my mom and I went in search of clothes for the kids! She is so awesome...at the end of each season, when they start marking clothes down and you get an additional % off, she buys all the kids clothes for the next year. I love going with her to pick out stuff for all the darlings! We kind of divide and conquer. She shops for Bailey, the oldest...and now she's in the big girl department! I shop for the boys...Griffin & Levi are the same size now, so I just grab two of everything! Then, we meet up and get for the little girls. This year, Maggie got a few things...we were already looking in the 6-9 month department!! FUN!

After shopping, Levi and I spent the afternoon playing. I didn't make him nap, so we could do an early bedtime. Saweet!! We played with a "new" toy!! Mom & Dad got him and Griffin a huge Lincoln Log set with a train. We put it together...only it has a lot more logs to build a lot more cabins. I settled for building three!!
We also made some cookies with blue icing in preparation for the Super Bowl. They aren't quite blue enough to be "Colts" blue, but I was running out of food coloring!!
Sunday consisted of naps - yea!!! - because I knew we'd all be up late for the game. Gretchen & the kids came over for a while to help root on the Colts!! With a sad tear in my eye, I have to congratulate the Saints on their first Super Bowl trip & win. They played a phenomenal game. Maybe next year we'll make it happen again!! OR, maybe we'll make it to the Super Bowl when it's played in Indy in 2012. :-) We'll see!

I love my kid

Just want to share a few things about Levi.

He loves his Daddy. He loves his Momma, too, but he LOVES his Daddy.
-He wants to sleep in boxers and no shirt like Daddy (TMI?? :-))
-At night, when we’re picking up, he puts his tennis shoes directly on top of Eric’s dress shoes so they’ll be ready for the next day.
-He wants to wear a tie on Sunday just like Daddy.
-If Eric is working in the basement, he’s right there next to him (literally) “helping”.
-He wants his toothbrush in our bathroom, next to Eric’s and he wants to spit just like Daddy when he brushes his teeth.
-Eric and I usually let him sit on our laps and drive the car up our hill and into the driveway when we come home. Each time he drives, he mimics Eric and adjusts the rear view mirror & the radio, cracks the window, uses the turn signal and waves at any neighbors that may be outside.

It’s really adorable to watch him and his actions. I love seeing my boys interact with each other. On Wednesday nights, we usually grab a quick bite to eat before church. Then, Levi and I sit in on the praise team’s rehearsal before we head to Cubbies. Levi watches Eric play the drums and mimics his moves. He never takes his eyes off of Eric. It’s precious. Next week, I’ll see if I can capture it with my camera. :-) Levi is oblivious to the people around us who stare, smile and say “Oh, that’s so sweet” or “He is just so cute” to which I smile sweetly and say, “Oh, thank you” when I really want to scream “I KNOW, RIGHT??!!”

26 weeks

I had a very good doctor appointment today! It has been six weeks since my ultrasound & last appointment with Dr. Wright. The ultrasound today showed that the marginal placenta previa has corrected itself and we were very happy about that!! The technician, who is super sweet, also got some pictures of the spine, which she could not capture last time. Everything else continues to look good and we got a couple of sweet pictures of Maggie's face and feet. (Well, as sweet as ultrasound pictures can be!)

I gained 4 pounds in 6 weeks. At first, I was a little bummed, but I guess 5 pounds in 26 weeks isn't that bad! I think Saturday's dinner at Kansai boosted me up a couple pounds!! :-)

I guess the only stinky thing is that I have to go to the hospital Wednesday morning for blood work and an ultrasound. I've been having some pretty strong pains on my right side and Dr. Wright wants to check out my gall bladder & liver to make sure everything is ok. It could just be a nerve off of my diaphragm, but he wants to take precautions.

Just 14 weeks left. Time is flying!!

Sisters

A pic my sister forwarded to me from our night out on Saturday :-)

Can anyone guess where we are?? LOL
