2 girls + 4 kids = a whole lotta nuthin

What do you get when you have two girls...

 ...plus four kids?

 You get a day full of a whole lotta nuthin! 

 The kids and I packed up Wednesday morning and headed to Bowling Green for the day!!

 Levi has been begging and pleading asking to go swimming with Pierce.

 And, if it means spending the day with my bestie, I will sacrifice! ;)

 Those kids swam their little hearts out!  Jumping, throwing the football, racing, they wore me out just watching them.  Priceless!  Before we knew it, several hours had gone by and they were all staaaarving.  So, we headed back to make some lunch.  FYI, when Gretchen has company, she rolls out the red carpet.  PB&J and pretzels. ;)   

 While she made lunch (all 3.4 minutes!) the kids played.  Levi LOVES cars and airplanes and was in heaven with Pierce's toys.

 And, Maggie, well, she loves anything girlie...so she was right at home in Hope's room!  They L.O.V.E.D. playing together!  Maggie hasn't been to BG in quite a while.  It was fun to see her grown up a little and playing instead of parked in a baby swing sucking on her paci. Ha! 

After lunch, Mags passed out.  She is such a good sleeper and I love it!

 While she was sleeping, I did what I do best and started snooping.  I'll tell you something about my BFF.  She hates change.  We know that.  But, really, G, it is okay to change out your picture frames!

 This bugs me to no end!  She has lived in BG for almost TWO years (gasp!) and still has not put pictures in certain frames!  I mean, she has them hanging on her walls and they portray OTHER families having fun!

 Yes, even the center of her living room......

 ...one frame has a couple making out and it is sideways.  Sigh...

 I love her anyways! ;)  While Mags slept, we took the kids out to play.  They rode their bikes and giggled and acted like crazy little hoodlums.

 And, this little precious face kept asking for a snack!  She cracks me up!

So, out came the popsicles!  Makes for some happy kids!

 There was one more surprise on the red carpet....break n bake cookies!  YES, please!

 Okay, seriously, this little thang was STILL sleeping.  I think at this point, it was going on 3.5 hours!  I told the kids to start rousing her and they were more than obliged to do so! ;)

 As if you aren't bored enough, there was more playing.  Ninjas...

 ...and coloring.

 And, HOPE GAVE MAGGIE A RING.  This is big!  Maggie wore it on her thumb the entire night.  Adorable. 

 Before too long, this pretty gal stopped by for a visit.  Love chatting with her!  Thanks for swinging by, Brittany!!! :))

I was uber sad when it was time to head home.  It felt too good just to sit there and visit.  :(  But, we had a fantastic day and I can't wait until the next one!  Love you guys!!

my purse

It's blog off time again!  Today's subject: What is in your purse? 

I am a purse snob.  I am.  When Gretchen talks about the process of me buying a purse, she is not exaggerating.  I will contemplate for a really long time before I make a purchase.  But, when I do finally pick the right one, I will keep it, nurture it, clean it, and take care of it for years. ;)

Luckily, I just got a new purse in Nashville, so I get to show another picture of it!!  

And, even though this one is new, I still rarely have a messy purse. 

 So, here you go!  Check it...I've got a gift card, butt paste {for Maggie, not me!}, my wallet, a hair clip, a diaper, sunglasses, my grocery list, a cosmetic bag, the church bulletin, a mint, skittles, and one of Maggie's hair clips. :)  Actually, that is kind of a lot for me to have.

 I got this from Gretchen for my birthday...waiting to use it right before vacation! :)

 And, seriously, this stuff rocks!  Best diaper cream ever in my humble opinion. ;)

 I love this little cosmetic pouch from Thirty One.  It makes me smile.

 And, finally, my wallet.  I think this is the messiest part of my purse.  It just kind of gets receipts tucked in it until I am ready to enter everything in the checkbook.  But, at least it zips up nice and neat and I don't have to "see" the mess. ;)  I would like a new wallet, so if you have a fabulous one, let me know where you got it!  My last one broke, so I pulled out this old Vera Bradley one I had.

a few of my favorite things

One good thing about your best friend moving away is that the time you do get to spend together becomes quality time over quantity time.  When Gretchen moved {gasp...almost two years ago!} we made a promise that we would do our best to do a mini trip together once every three months.  Can you believe we have kept that promise?!  I can. :)  We are just awesome like that. ;)  A couple of months ago, Brittany suggested a small trip to Nashville, and a plan was set into motion.  This time, we had Brittany & Jami join us!  You loyal readers may have already read Gretchen & Jami's posts, so I'm doing a little different take.  Gonna just give you my top six faves about the trip.

Favorite thing #1 - the company.

 #2 - meeting "grass"
While we were there, we got to meet up with Katherine from Grass Stains and her adorable friend, Melanie.  They also brought Amelia, Katherine's adorable daughter.  She is a beauty!!

 Honestly, it was like we were old friends!  They were so easy to talk to.  I feel like there will be more trips like this in the future. :)

 

#3 - diet coke

I love that at any given moment, when one of us spotted a McDonald's, we would shout it out, pull over, each of us would slap out a dollar, and we would all order our crack. 

 #4 - gift
This leads me into a gift given to each of us from Katherine.  I cannot tell you how much I love this print!  She ordered them for us off Etsy.  "Friends who drink diet coke together, stay together." 

 #5 - Coach
Besides my diet coke obsession, I also have a little Coach obsession. ;)  My sister-in-law got me hooked on them a few years ago.  When I saw the Coach store from afar, it was like a little blessing from heaven!  Then, they were offering an additional 20% off an already reduced 50%...be still my heart.

 And, finally, #6 - cowboy hat
I have been wanting a good cowboy hat for a long time now.  Probably about two years!  And, where better to buy one than Nashville??!!  After trying on a few, I fell in love with this one.  I am sure you will be seeing lots of pics of me in it.  I can't wait!

 Another successful trip in the books!  We had a great time.  Amazing how a little laughter rejuvenates your soul.
